'Hey Sista, Go Sista, Soul Sista’

"Hey sista, go sista, soul sista, flow sista" is an engaging showcase that presents approximately 18 portraits of female soul artists who have left an indelible mark on music and culture. The project delves into the exceptional artistry of pioneering musicians such as Sister Sledge, Lauryn Hill, and Erykah Badu, exploring how their remarkable talents have reached a broader audience and shaped the realms of Black and popular cultures and histories as we know them.

The exhibition also shines a light on the intersection of contemporary artists, including Jorja Smith, Koffee and Little Simz, underscoring the enduring significance and legacy of the artists who have paved the way for the new generation.

Furthermore, this exhibition represents a significant milestone for me as a photographer as it merges the mediums of photography and text. A thoughtfully curated selection of portraits is paired with poignant lyrical excerpts from the artists' songs, resulting in a powerful fusion that pays homage to their profound impact and artistic brilliance.
